The Freelance is primarily operated by Rusty Padia. The boat runs out of Newport Landing in Newport Beach, California.

Rustys History: Growing up I spent most of my summers on the Freelance. One of the main captains Sharif, showed me the ropes. I started getting a paycheck on the Freelance when I was 16, and have been there for the last 13 years. I got my captains license when I was 21 and have been running the boat ever since. Last year I got the opportunity to be a part of the landings new 6 pack operation, the Blackfish, which I also run a few days a week.
